Nights of Lights 2025: A Holiday Tradition Just Minutes Away

As the holiday season approaches, one of the most magical traditions on Florida’s east coast returns for another year: St. Augustine’s Nights of Lights. This beloved annual event transforms the nation’s oldest city into a glowing, festive wonderland—and it’s only a short drive from home for our Saltwater Homes community here in Flagler County.

Whether you’re a long-time local or new to the area, Nights of Lights is a must-see holiday experience that brings friends and families together under a canopy of more than three million white lights. It’s the kind of coastal charm that reminds us why we love living—and building—along Florida’s beautiful First Coast.

A Coastal Holiday Tradition

Starting in mid-November and continuing through early January, St. Augustine’s historic district becomes a glowing celebration of the season. Light displays stretch across the rooftops, tree canopies, bridges, courtyards, and waterfront walkways. Shops and restaurants stay open late, music fills the plazas, and the entire city feels like a living snow globe (without the snow, of course).

The festivities begin with a ceremonial lighting in the heart of downtown, where the historic square lights up to kick off the season. From that night on, locals and visitors alike stroll the cobblestone streets, sip hot cocoa or cider, and take in the beauty of one of Florida’s most iconic holiday traditions.

A Holiday Getaway Close to Home

For Saltwater Homes clients living in Palm Coast, Flagler Beach, or the surrounding areas, St. Augustine’s Nights of Lights makes the perfect evening trip or weekend outing. Whether you visit by car, trolley, golf cart, or even boat, there are plenty of ways to enjoy the lights your way:

  • Take a romantic walk under the glow of ancient oak trees
  • Book a guided trolley or train tour with holiday music
  • Enjoy a boat cruise along the bayfront to see the lights from the water
  • Grab dinner at one of the city’s charming local restaurants or cafes

No matter how you experience it, the atmosphere is unforgettable.
